WiFi Signal Booster Antenna/Cantenna

I made my own WiFi Signal Booster Parabolic Antenna from Recycled Chickpea Tin, Aluminum Foil, Cardboard and Some metallic paper clip. The performance of this antenna in amplifying the signal is amazing. My WiFi router is at the ground floor and my computer is on the first floor. The performance was amazing with upto ~9x signal intensity boost. The download speed improved amazingly.

How to make it?

Quick Guide:

1. Take a foldable cardboard - rectangular shaped
2. Stick the Aluminum Foil(Good quality) on to the card board covering it.
3. Roll over the Aluminum foil cardboard on the used Chickpea tin it will become a    parabola. (The Geometry shld be okay with it but if you dont understand it just leave it)
4. Stick the Parabolic reflector antenna on to the Chickpea tin (the closed side facing up) using wonder tapes. see the image below
your antenna is done!

Now place the antenna just opposite the position of Wifi Router Antenna. Keep changing the position/ degrees until you get a good WiFi signal. (The WiFi signal will improve consistently).
Place the antenna securely such that it doesnt fall off with the wind or other disturbances.

Use some metallic clips wound over the antenna in the WiFi router to direct WiFi signals on to the parabolic antenna you made.

You can also use a copperwire colied up on a chopstick additionally and use a cloth clipper to hold it, this serves as an antenna to increase the range.

There are enough video tutorial on youtube on how one can make this WiFi Signal Boosters, the Principle is that a metallic surface reflects the WiFi Signal and a Parabolic reflectors condenses and focuses the signal and transmits it at high intensity.Check some youtube links I picked up at the end of this blog.

The Jalsa and Jilpa Snack edition: Chennai Autos go everywhere »

jalsajilpa:

Last week, I was stuck in an unholy traffic jam near Madhya Kailash whose root cause, as I found out after trudging 100 metres in about 30 mins, was an auto trying to get through a small gap in the median to get to a point across the road ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE TRAFFIC. He also managed to dent…
